Writing a blog. 7 blogging tips and ideas

Writing a blog. 7 blogging tips and ideas

Inspiration on writing a blog. Most us go through a stage of writers block. How do we get through these periods of just blanks? Here are seven blogging tips to help you for blog ideas.

1. Think about what people who visit your blog want. Ask yourself, “What problems are they experiencing that I can help with”. Or questions such as “When I started what did I learn that helped me to get to where I am now?” These are ideas that can be formulated into something of benefit that you should be inspired to write about.

2. What have I recently learnt that was informative, helpful, inspiring, humorous, or entertaining? Work this into your blog giving your unique flavour. As You grow you can share those benefits, solutions or ideas with your readers. What are your struggles, gripes that maybe need airing. These “struggles” show that you to are human and can identify with their problems.

3. Sign up with Stumbleupon and get their weekly review of the most popular sites. Find sites relevant to your blog for ideas, tips or strategies. Or you can visit forums and chat sites related to your niche to find threads to fire you up with. This is another place to find what questions are being asked that you could maybe help with.

4. Google trends is another site worth visiting to see what’s hot. Write about something of interest that you have found, then point your readers in that direction. Out ward links from your blog are also good, it shows your readers that you care by offering something of quality. They will come back for more as regulars.

5. Write down a list of ten questions relating to your niche that your readers could be asking. Just do a google search ” intelligent questions on ??(Your Niche).” you will be amazed at what questions get asked. This is a great way to jump in to give your input.

6. Use a good key word tool that gives alternate keywords and phrases. This I find is great inspiration for my heading. Once the heading is decided, just write down every thing you know without really thinking. You can always come back to proof read and correct it later. This gets the flow going, so don’t stop.

7. What’s up and coming? What important event is due? This can be the foundation for your blog ideas. Easter for example or the next big game. What plans, views or interests can you write about? What can benefit your community or needs discussion to improve things.

Inspiration for writing a blog is easy if you think about these 7 blogging tips and ideas. You need to now take action and benefit from writing what is on your heart.

5 Blogging Tips That Will Make You Unique

5 Blogging Tips That Will Make You Unique

There are certain blogging tips you can follow to develop an identity to help you stand out from the pack. Some require certain talents or expertise whiles others rely more upon consistency and diligence. In either case it is important to be unique in some way since the blogging business is very competitive. In fact the sole measure of most popular blogs is their ability to attract and retain a steady following. The only thing that can both attract and keep a blog reader loyal is to offer them something nobody else has.

Here are 5 ways in which you can create uniqueness about your or your site which will not only increase blog traffic but build their loyalty as well. Remember it is all about delivering something nobody else has or does and doing so consistently.

Depth

Put some ‘teeth’ into the content you post by sharing some insightful or otherwise useful information readers’ can benefit from. Give your posts some depth by making your exclamations of any advice or insight more comprehensive and well thought out. The blog reader will appreciate this and will demonstrate their appreciation by returning.

Personality

Show your personality or at least one you are comfortable displaying to your readers. This can be reflected in the way you write or the opinions you may share. Give your site some life by investing your personality into it. This will help to increase blog traffic to your site since readers will be experiencing something unique which of course is your insight, opinions or particular delivery style.

Expert

If you have a particular expertise or talent than hopefully that is what you have based your site upon. Many popular blogs got that way because they stand out due to the ‘authority’ they have demonstrated in their particular field of interest. If you have a developed expertise or pool of knowledge about something in particular than by all means run with it!

Outspoken/Candor

By being outspoken or sharing a ‘strong’ opinion you can attract many who have an interest in what you say. Not everybody will agree with you of course but those that do will appreciate your comments and those that do not are generally interested in your point of view. A site like this usually involves a lot of commenting and this type of activity is one of the best assets your blog can have.

New Perspective

Taking a ‘worn out’ topic and presenting it in a new light can make it very popular with readers. When sharing your perspective on something the key is to fully explain and/or rationalize your point of view. Posting in this manner normally gets the blog reader to look at something in a way that they have not thought of before. Whether they agree or disagree it is likely they will find this type content intriguing.

Some of the most valuable blogging tips you can get are those that help you to develop a site that stands out from the rest. Being that the blogging business is so competitive it is important to offer something nobody else does. As is the case with any of the popular blogs found online you must have the ability to not only attract but also develop a certain loyalty with the blog reader. The 5 ways we discuss above in which you can develop or create uniqueness about yourself or your site will serve to make you stand out from the pack. In this way you will then be able to not only increase blog traffic to your site but also maintain a regular following.

3 Blogging Tips You Need To Remember

3 Blogging Tips You Need To Remember

There are many blogging tips that concern certain technicalities of managing a blog platform. Today we are addressing one of the most basics aspects of running one of these sites. In fact what we are discussing here today plays the most significant role in the blog building process.

The ‘ritual’ of blog posting is sometimes undervalued and overlooked since it is one of the least technical aspects of blogging. This ‘ritual’ however sets the tempo of the site and is in fact what attracts or repels the blog reader. So what is it about our blog posting habits that attracts visitors and what can we do to maintain their interests?

Although there are many aspects involved in operating a successful blog platform here are the 3 most important components that need to be maintained. We will refer to them as the 3 C’s of blogging.

Content

The very backbone of the blog building process is the content you produce. It is this content that attracts visitors and keeps the blog reader coming back. You want to gain the reputation of posting good quality information so that people will look forward to returning to your blog.

Consistency

Your blog posting habits should be consistent so that people will know what to expect from you. Whether you post multiple times daily or weekly is up to you and the time you can make available for any blog posting. Whatever time intervals you adopt for posting try to consistently maintain it. Of course posting more frequently will help to boost your search engine rankings which will result in more people visiting your site.

Comments

Always encourage the blog reader to leave their comments or input at your site. Comments are a sign that your posts are getting a reaction and even more importantly that they are being read. More comments also tend to create greater sense of community at your site and this is something visitors look for.

Very often any comments left by your readers will contain useful suggestions and great ideas with which you can use to create more content in the future. Reader comments should not be taken lightly since these are the very people you are trying to satisfy. Their input is invaluable insofar as they are telling you what it is they like. By acting upon their suggestions you will create an even stronger bond and loyalty with them.

The blogging tips discussed here today may not be that technical in nature but they play a major role in the blog building process. These 3 elements are the very core of any blog and the attention you pay them will be reflected in the success of the site itself.

Blogging Tips – 5 Cardinal Sins To Avoid

Blogging Tips – 5 Cardinal Sins To Avoid

There are certain blogging tips that anyone who either owns or is perhaps just creating a blog should pay close attention to. By overlooking particular principles you will only sabotage your own blog building efforts. As any self respecting blogger will tell you the blogging business requires an investment of both your time and effort and there are no short cuts available. So whether you are creating a blog for personal or professional use you would be wise to build it on a solid foundation.

Here are 5 cardinal sins every blogger needs to avoid if they intend to establish a site with a reliable reputation and plenty of traffic.

Lack of Motivation

As has been so often stated any blogging business takes time and effort before you will see any measurable signs of progress. Many still assume they can slap up a site and by its very presence on the internet it will attract traffic. This is not true since the biggest thing that attracts either search engines or visitors is content and plenty of it. This is all part of the blog building process therefore posting efforts must be continual and consistent. If you lack the motivation to maintain these efforts you will also lack the traffic needed to make your blog successful.

Misguided Intentions

When creating a blog you are creating it for your readers and not to make money so keep this in mind. Post content of interest to them or they will not frequent the site. If you have no blog readers your site has no life and you will have little motivation to continue to maintain your blog. So if you are blogging for your own selfish reasons you will have a very small audience.

Copy Cat Bloggers

I am being nice here since I am referring to people who steal the content of others and take credit for it. They literally copy and paste your content onto their own site and remove your name from it. I see this quite a bit with my own content and it does not take much time before these ‘impersonators’ are found out and ignored by the internet audience.

It also helps to have some knowledge concerning what it is you are blogging about. Whether you are a ‘battle scarred’ veteran in the field or perhaps knowledgeable due to your research you want to post information that is accurate and useful.

Rotten Niche Selection

Market research is very important in selecting the niche you want to blog about. This is particularly true if you intend to make money in the blogging business. If you blog about something of little interest to people you can expect that the traffic you receive will reflect that interest level.

Spreading Yourself TOO Thin

Like the old Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan ‘do one thing and do it right’ if you intend to have much success with a particular blog it is best to focus your efforts. The amount of success you experience with any ONE blog will be in proportion to the amount of time and effort invested. If you want to operate a ‘series’ of mini-blogs that is different but to establish an authoritative and deeply rooted site your focus, effort and TIME will be needed.

The blogging tips we discussed here today are fundamental in the development of any site that seeks a solid reputation and consistent traffic. The blog building process can be a long slow journey but if done correctly the results will make it all worth the effort. The ‘cardinal sins’ mentioned above are examples of what NOT to do when embarking upon your journey into the blogging business. By avoiding these mistakes and/or misaligned beliefs you stand a much better chance creating a blog that will reward your efforts.

You can no longer use the excuse that setting up a blog is too hard. Plenty of blogging software is available easily, and mostly free, taking the guesswork out of blog-building. Today, assembling a blog is simple. What’s even more important, and much harder, is marketing your blog. To be successful, you must strengthen your marketing ability. You might be able to entice visitors to your website initially, but how will you keep them coming back for more. Successful blog marketing helps you get higher search engine rankings, gain valuable links and increase the traffic to your site. Use to following tips to get your blog on the right marketing track. Tip #1- RSS Your Blog Just because your blog is live, don’t assume visitors know about it. Imagine your blog is a nice sized chalk board sitting in your basement. How do you get it out of the basement and onto the sidewalk? That’s where RSS feeds come into play. RSS simply allows others to syndicate content from your blog to their blog or website. Using RSS feeds to promote your blog is an effective way to get your content noticed.

5 Blogging Tips For Increasing Reader Satisfaction

5 Blogging Tips For Increasing Reader Satisfaction

There are blogging tips about how to increase blog traffic or how to set up a blog for advertising. What we are discussing here today is nothing more than certain habits you need to develop to simply keep the blog reader satisfied. Every blog depends upon its readers to survive and thrive therefore keeping them happy is essential towards maintaining a successful blog. Sometimes as a blogger it is best to appreciate the readers you already have for without them to whom will you blog?

Here are 5 habits that will serve you well in keeping the loyal blog reader you already have content and intrigued by what you post to the site.

Keep Topics Relevant

Remember that the blog reader was attracted to your site because of the topic you blog about therefore maintain relevancy when posting. The topic you have chosen, if you have loyal followers, appears to be a winner so why change?

Deliver Helpful Content

Always strive to supply your readers with some sort of content that will be useful in to them. One of the best ways to increase blog traffic is to continually deliver information that people find useful and they will likely refer your blog to others as well.

Be Original

Whether it is the information contained within your content or the way you deliver it always strive to supply something new or intriguing. A successful blog is one that reflects a distinctive ‘personality’ and this alone can add originality to any content.

When composing anything to post on your blog avoid looking around to see how others present it and simply just do it YOUR way.

Write to Be Understood

Do not write to ‘impress’ when blogging since this will likely backfire on you. What I mean here is to simply write to be understood by EVERYBODY.

Why use 15 words when 7 will work just as well and along those lines do not go pulling words out of the dictionary. If you need to look up the meaning of any word it is likely the blog reader will also have to do the same. It is best to leave that word in the dictionary where it belongs and choose something everybody is comfortable with. This makes for an easier and more enjoyable reading experience.

Update Regularly

With learning how to set up a blog that your readers will enjoy comes the discovery that it is important to update regularly. When you consider that people frequent your site because they like the content it only stands to reason that they would appreciate more of the same. Give it to them! Establish some sort of regular blogging schedule and stick to it so people know what to expect.

The blogging tips we discussed above target how to set up a blog and maintain it to keep loyal readers satisfied. Every successful blog got that way by keeping their readers happy and as a result loyal. In achieving this level of satisfaction with people who frequent your site you will likely increase blog traffic through their referrals alone. Always remember it is important to appreciate what you already have in terms of loyal readers. By showing your appreciation they will reward you with further loyalty and most likely continual referrals.

5 Blogging Tips to Boost Your Site’s Appeal

5 Blogging Tips to Boost Your Site’s Appeal

One of the best blogging tips you can get is to pay close attention as to how you treat the blog reader when they are on your site. Blogs are basically set up to cater to visitors who hopefully will turn into subscribers but sometimes we forget this important point. Even though attracting blog traffic is ALWAYS a priority so is how we maintain the site itself. Blog building is an ongoing process that evolves as the site ages and the readers’ preferences change and this is something we need to recognize.

There are however certain guidelines and rules pertaining to your blog that should remain consistent. By adhering to these ‘rules’ you will be giving any blog reader a more enjoyable and rewarding experience while they are on your site.

Let’s review 5 rules to follow and habits to maintain that will allow your blog to offer an enjoyable experience to any and all visitors.

Include an Author Bio

Allow the reader to learn a little something about you the author in the ‘about’ section of your blog. This is an important step in the initial stages of blog building. Tell them why you blog and share with them any information about you that is relative to the blog theme itself. Add a picture if you are comfortable enough or at least some type of caricature.

Avoid Bad Links

When posting links on your blog test them to be sure they work and that they direct your blog reader to the location you intended. An occasional ‘faulty’ link is acceptable but if it becomes a consistent pattern many readers will get frustrated and leave.

Stick to Your Theme

Your blog had an established theme when you launched it and this is the content that has attracted your readers therefore do not wander from it. Be sure that all your posted content is relevant in some form or fashion to your intended theme.

Easy Availability of RSS Button

Make a RSS button readily available for any blog traffic that lands on your site. The best way to do this is to place it in a prominent position towards the top of the page. Making visitors search for it will likely frustrate them resulting in their giving up and leaving the page.

Avoid Clutter

Both in your posts and on the site itself you should avoid going wild with too many links or advertisements. You want your blog to project an image of professionalism and order which is hard to do with too many ‘blinking’ lights, banners, or highlighted links.

The 5 blogging tips we reviewed above are directed at increasing the positive experience the blog reader has when on your site. As vital as attracting blog traffic may be of equal importance is how we treat any visitors when they land on our site. Recognizing that blog building is a long term process will help us evolve with any changes that are reflected by the preferences of our visitors/subscriber. By adhering to the rules and habits reflected in the tips above we will be able to identify any changes that occur and act accordingly. Remembering to be sensitive to the needs of our readers is a good first step towards positioning ourselves to spot these changes in order to maintain a popular blog.

5 Blogging Tips For Developing A Unique Identity

5 Blogging Tips For Developing A Unique Identity

There are countless blogging tips you can find on generating traffic or even the best platform to use but what about how to stand out? Your uniqueness is ultimately what will determine the degree of blog success you enjoy. This is especially true if you are blogging to make money. Your uniqueness will attract the blog traffic your site will need if you expect to earn an income.

Here are 5 tips you can use to help establish a ‘unique’ identity that will help you attract the blog traffic you both want and need to be successful.

Topic Selection

It is always a good idea to select topics that have some sort of popularity with readers.

The topic you select to blog about will not necessarily make you unique but the approach you take to it will. The way you present these topics on your site will determine how much blog traffic you attract. Many people may blog about the same subject but you can gain uniqueness in the WAY you present it.

Opinions Offered

Do not be afraid to voice your opinion on any subject as long as you have some knowledge of what it is you are saying. People love to hear the opinions of others even if they do not always agree. Offer yours and watch the readers’ fire back comments in response. Many times your blog success is dependent upon ‘stirring up a reaction’ from readers. This increase in interactivity on the site helps create an atmosphere of community and encourages others to join in on the discussions.

Content Quality

The content on your site should always contain some type of information that readers find intriguing, educational, humorous or useful. If it does not your readers will simply not return, end of story! This is especially true if you are blogging to make money since quality content will give you more credibility.

Timeliness of Information

How relevant and timely is the information being shared? If it is industry news how old is it and if it is industry knowledge how relevant is it at the time of its publication or posting?

Simply said the more timely or relevant you are the more popular you will become which translates into more blog traffic.

Personality

Everybody has a unique personality therefore use it to your advantage on your blog. The ‘tone’ of which posts are delivered can make any blog distinctive. Whether it is humor, sarcasm, witty or a tutorial type of delivery it is always best to match the personality with the type content that is being posted. This can add ‘entertainment’ value or ‘intrigue’ to an otherwise boring piece of content.

The 5 blogging tips we discussed above will help you to capture your own unique identity which will influence the level of blog success you enjoy. The uniqueness you achieve will serve to help attract the blog traffic you need especially, if you are blogging to make money. By following these suggestions or even adding a little ‘deviation’ of your own, should put you on track to crafting an identity people will notice. What you do with this identity is entirely up to you!
